Nine young ladies from Girl Scout Troop 14629 earned their Bronze Award as they completed the Junior Girl Scout program. The Bronze Award is the first higher award available to Girl Scouts and requires 9-12 hours of community service from each girl, as well as completion of an advanced Girl Scout Journey project.

The girls worked with Forever Fed, a ministry of Hillside United Methodist Church. Forever Fed provides a mobile ministry for families who are struggling to provide meals to their families. Many of these families have limited access to transportation and can’t go to food pantries or other services in the area. Through their community block parties in different neighborhoods and the Cans4Kids boxed food deliveries, families receive assistance brought to their neighborhood or home.

Over the first several months of 2016, Troop 14629 packed grocery food boxes for distribution and provided games and activities for kids at a monthly block party. The girls learned first-hand about needs in the community and that they could help make the world a better place. The girls received their Bronze Award pins and certificates at their crossover ceremony as the girls progressed to Cadettes.

Congratulations on a great project!
